Pundit claims Tottenham players won’t be happy with 45-year-old as Conte replacement

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Fulham manager Marco Silva in recent weeks.

Antonio Conte could be on his way out of the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The 53-year-old has not signed an extension with the London club yet.

Tottenham have been linked with a number of other managers as well but it appears that Marco Silva’s exploits at Craven Cottage have caught their attention.

According to talkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil, Tottenham players are unlikely to be happy with links with the 45-year-old manager.

He said (h/t HITC): “You think the Tottenham players are happy with all this talk? There they are. We were talking about how frustrating they are. You look at how the results went at the weekend and now they are reading and hearing this again?!

“I would go for a Poch me. I am sorry, but I would go for a Poch. You know what you are getting. And you might say ‘well, what has he won?’ If you give him a few quid and let him buy the players, then that might change.”

While Silva has done an impressive job at Fulham so far, he does not have a proven track record of managing big clubs with massive expectations.

Tottenham need someone who can end their wait for a trophy and convince the big players to stay at the club.

Conte has a proven pedigree of winning trophies across multiple leagues and he has managed several big clubs like Juventus, Inter Milan, and Chelsea.

The Italian is a world-class manager and if he decides to leave, Tottenham will have to bring in someone who is of similar caliber.

While Silva might develop into a top-class manager in the future, he would be an underwhelming addition right now.

With players like Harry Kane being linked with moves away from the club, Tottenham must bring in someone who will inspire confidence in the top players that the club is capable of winning trophies soon.
