Micky van de Ven, has emerged as the standout signing of the Premier League season, according to Scottish pundit Craig Burley.
Since joining Tottenham from Wolfsburg for €40 million last summer, the Dutch defender has made an immediate impact, showcasing his adaptability and consistently delivering stellar performances on the pitch.
The 22-year-old has become a key fixture in Ange Postecoglou’s lineup, featuring in 19 Premier League games and making significant contributions, including scoring a goal.
Craig Burley believes Van de Ven has been the signing of the season
Last summer saw some brilliant transfers, including James Maddison’s transfer to Spurs from Leicester, Alexis Mac Allister’s to Liverpool from Brighton, Cole Palmer’s to Chelsea from City.
Speaking on ESPN FC Extra Time on YouTube, Burley emphasized Van de Ven’s outstanding impact on the team, despite facing some hamstring issues.
He commended Tottenham for securing such an exceptional talent, labelling Van de Ven as a worthy recipient of the prestigious award.
He said:
“I would throw in I think Kudus for sure, but I would throw in, has there been a better value for money signing than Van de Ven for Tottenham? When he’s not in that side, he’s been absolutely outstanding, hamstring issues apart, he has been an outstanding signing for them.
“You’ve picked Mac Allister, you picked Palmer, for value for money I’m going to say Van de Ven.”

We could have a signing of the season competition within Tottenham, with Maddison for £40m up there as one of the astute transfers.
But you can not argue with Craig. Van de Ven has by far been the best signing for Tottenham and perhaps in the league as well. The impact he has made at Tottenham has been incredible.
