Postecoglou wants 29-yr-old PL ace in January to deal with AFCON concerns

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard.

The 29-year-old has established himself as a reliable player for the Bees and his performances have attracted the attention of the north London club as well.

A report from Football Transfers claims that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou admires the 29-year-old defensive midfielder and he wants Spurs to sign the player during the January transfer window.

Apparently, Tottenham are worried about losing a number of key players during the African Cup of Nations and they are ready to bring in alternative alternatives. Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr will be away on international duty during the AFCON and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with an exit from the club.

Signing another defensive midfielder should be a top priority for Tottenham and Norgaard is a proven performer in the Premier League. He could prove to be a quality acquisition. He has a contract with Brentford until the summer of 2025 and he could be available for a reasonable price.

It remains to be seen whether Brentford are prepared to sell the Denmark international midfielder during the January window. He has been an indispensable asset for them and replacing him midway through the season could prove to be a challenging task.

Tottenham certainly have the finances to afford him and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

A move to the north London club would be a step up in the 29-year-old’s career as well. It could be his final opportunity to join a big club and he is likely to be tempted.
