Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has now revealed the kind of player he wants to sign for the club at the end of the season.
Tottenham are currently pushing for UEFA Champions League qualification and they will need to improve their squad during the summer transfer window if they manage to finish in the top four. They will need more depth and quality in the side in order to do well across multiple competitions.
Tottenham have put together an exciting squad, but they need more quality at their disposal. Postecoglou has now revealed in an interview the kind of player he will look to sign in the summer.
The Australian believes that players looking to join a Champions League club might not be a good fit for his side. He wants players who are keen to play for Tottenham and are ready to take up a challenge. Even if Tottenham miss out on a top-four finish, he wants players who are committed to the cause.
He said (h/t Ben Jacobs): “If you want UCL football and that’s all you want, you don’t want to come to Tottenham; you just want to go to a Champions League club. I want people to come to Tottenham who know this club, know the challenge we’ve got… “And we do have a challenge. We are different to other clubs in that we haven’t had success for a while, so I’m looking for a certain type of character, one that’s going to say, ‘You know what, they’re not in the Champions League but if I win something with them that could mean something for my career and to me so I’m up for that fight’.”

Tottenham need to improve their squad
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can bring in the right reinforcements at the end of the season. They will need to add more depth to their midfield and attack in particular.
Tottenham are yet to sign a quality replacement for Harry Kane and a reliable goalscorer should be one of the top priorities. They will need to invest in a quality midfield controller as well, who can dominate proceedings in the middle of the park. In addition to that, a back up central defender would be a wise addition.
Tottenham are currently fifth in the league table, and it will be interesting to see if they can secure a top four finish.
