Tottenham Hotspur signed Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg at the start of the season.
The 22-year-old Dutch defender has already established himself as a key player for the North London club and he has formed a reliable partnership with Cristian Romero at the back.
Van de Ven has now heaped praise on his Spurs teammate and defensive partner. He believes that Romero is a world class defender and a leader for the side. He added that the Argentine international is not scared of anyone and he has a knack for putting in committed performances consistently.
He told Optus Sport about Romero: “For me, he is world-class. He is a leader. He is always one hundred per cent. He is a top-class player with the ball and without the ball when defending.
“I can promise you he is not scared of anyone. He keeps going every game. From day one here he has helped me. He is just a world-class player.”
Romero is undoubtedly one of the best defenders in the Premier League right now and he has been a key player for Tottenham since joining the club from Atalanta. Tottenham needed to bring in a reliable partner for him and the signing of Van de Ven has worked out well.
The Dutchman will be hoping to build on his impressive start to life in England and help the North London outfit return to the Champions League. The partnership of Van de Ven and Romero could help lay the foundations of a formidable squad that is capable of challenging for major trophies is every season.
Tottenham signed Radu Dragusin from Genoa during the January transfer window. The Romanian will hope to break into the starting lineup soon and it remains to be seen whether he can dislodge the likes of Romero and Van de Ven.
