Postecoglou has identified 26-yr-old as a ‘promising option’ for Spurs ahead of January window

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Borussia Monchengladbach defender Ko Itakura.

The 26-year-old has shown his quality in the Bundesliga and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for the North London club. A report from Fichajes claims that Ange Postecoglou is looking to add to his defensive options and he has identified the 26-year-old Japanese international as a potential option.

Tottenham have Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven as their first-choice defenders right now, but they need to add more depth to their squad if they want to compete for major trophies.

Therefore, the 26-year-old has been identified as a ‘promising option’ for the Premier League club. Itakura was linked with the move to Tottenham in the past as well and it remains to be seen whether the Premier League side can get the deal done this time around.

They have Ashley Phillips at their disposal as well, but the talented young defender needs time to establish himself as a first-team regular. Having another experienced defender in the ranks would be ideal and Itakura certainly fits the profile.

The opportunity to join the Premier League club will be an exciting option for the player and he will look to test himself in English football. The Japanese defender certainly has the attributes to succeed in the Premier League and he could be an important first-team player for Tottenham.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham come forward with a concrete proposal to sign the player when the window reopens in January.
