Tottenham Hotspur signed Radu Dragusin from Genoa during the January transfer window.
The north London outfit paid €25 million for the defender and he has signed a long-term contract until 2030 with them.
The player’s agent has now revealed to Tutto Juve that Bayern Munich were serious about signing the 22-year-old Romanian defender and they made the biggest offer to sign the player. However, it was never about money for the player and he felt that a move to Tottenham would be better suited for him so he decided to move to the Premier League.
The defender’s agent also confirmed that Napoli made a substantial offer to sign the player and he was keen on bringing his client to the Italian club. Dragusin’s agent Florian Manea happens to be a Napoli fan.
Manea said: “De Laurentiis was ready to close the deal, he was there with the offer, they were almost equal with the others, but it wasn’t a question of money. If it had been, he would have gone to Bayern, who made the bigger offer. Dragusin felt this was the way to go and decided to go to Tottenham.”
He added: “Mr De Laurentiis left a good impression on me, he was very kind. Maradona is my idol and Napoli is in my heart. I hope to do a deal with Napoli in the future. It wasn’t a bad offer from Napoli, it’s a pity it turned out this way, I’m a bit of a Napoli fan.”
It appears that Dragusin was the sole driving force behind the move to Tottenham. The 22-year-old is highly rated around Europe and he has a big future ahead of him.
He will be hoping to establish himself as a key player for Tottenham in the coming seasons. His determination to move to the north London club will certainly come as a major boost for the side.
The fans will be excited to watch him in action every week and they will hope that he can fulfil his potential with them.
Tottenham needed to improve their defensive options this season and they have done so with the additions of Micky van de Ven and Dragusin. They have brought in a future prospect in Ashley Phillips as well.
