Tottenham Hotspur have encountered a notable setback in what initially seemed like a successful winter transfer window for the club.
Spurs have been left behind in their pursuit of Club Brugge’s wonder kid, as the news broke earlier today that Premier League side Brentford have secured an agreement with the Belgian club to sign Antonio Nusa.
Fabrizio Romano revealed that the agreement for Nusa comes at a cost exceeding €30 million. Brentford have additionally agreed to let the young talent remain on loan at Brugge until the end of the season.
The player was heavily linked with a move to Spurs this past week, with reports suggested the deal is agreed. It was also reported that Nusa had verbally agreed personal terms with Spurs. Which is why this comes as a big shock for Spurs.
However, Paul O Keefe, a trusted insider and correspondent for Spurs, has revealed that the North Londoners’ involvement with the Belgian club regarding Nusa was limited to just one meeting, and nothing beyond that has transpired.
He revealed on X: “Spurs had one meeting over Antonio Nusa, that’s it.”

The left-winger has not been a regular feature in this campaign, primarily due to a recurring back injury that has led to his absence in eight games for the club.
In six starts out of 16 in the Belgian top flight, the Norwegian has scored three goals and assisted another two.
Tottenham had a chance to secure the young forward’s services when he was with Stabaek in Norway, but unfortunately, the opportunity slipped away. History repeats itself, as the Lilywhites have failed to secure Nusa’s signature this time.
