Paul Merson sends message to Levy regarding Spurs managerial vacancy

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur sacked manager Antonio Conte recently and they are yet to bring in a long-term replacement.

The north London club have put Cristian Stellini along with Ryan Mason in charge of the first team on an interim basis.

While the Premier League side have been linked with a number of managers in recent weeks, they are yet to decide on a permanent appointment.

Former manager Mauricio Pochetino,  the recently sacked Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann, and former Spanish international manager Luis Enrique have all been linked with the Tottenham job.

Former Premier League player and popular pundit Paul Merson has now urged Daniel Levy to go out and get a permanent manager for Tottenham right away.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the popular Pandit revealed that it is always the same situation with Tottenham where they hesitate to bring in a permanent appointment until the summer because they will have to pay up for the new manager.

“Tottenhan need to do this now,” Merson told Sky Sports Soccer Saturday. “It always feels like this with them ‘oh we’ll wait, we don’t want to pay anyone now’. But they’re going to have three months off in a couple of months time  – and they’ll still have to pay. They need a manager. Just go out and get one now.”

Tottenham need to bring in a quality manager and they should look to act swiftly.

Champions League qualification is at stake and the north London club cannot afford to take risks right now. Bringing in a top-class manager right now could help them secure a top four finish.

Key players like Harry Kane have been linked with a move away from the club and missing out on Champions League football could be a devastating blow.

It will be interesting to see if Daniel Levy is prepared to act swiftly and bring in a quality replacement for Conte in the coming weeks.
