‘Fit to play’ – Tottenham midfielder cleared for action after assessment

Tottenham received some good news earlier today regarding midfielder Pape Matar Sarr.

The 21-year-old is enjoying his breakthrough season at the club and has been absolutely sensational. He has become the preferred starting midfielder alongside Yves Bissouma, making 18 appearances so far, scoring two and assisting two.

His consistent performances have been rewarded with Spurs offering him a new long-term contract, which was made official yesterday.

He did suffer a slight setback during the game against Bournemouth this past week. He opened the scoring with a brilliant goal from the edge of the box, but at the half an hour mark, he was forced off injured.

The player was in tears as he was being taken off, and the manager confirmed after the game that it was a hamstring injury.

However, Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick today reported that the midfielder underwent an assessment and was ‘passed fit to play’ with Senegal in the AFCON starting next week.

This is great news for Senegal as well as Tottenham, who have been undergoing a horrible injury crisis of late.

They will now hope that Sarr returns from the tournament without injury and resumes his excellent form exactly from where he left off.
