The game was dominated by Tottenham but they failed to score despite created a number of chances.
The deadlock was broken in the 70th minute, through Spurs academy graduate Dane Scarlett who came on in the 66th minute to make an instant impact.
Dejan Kulusevski played in a teasing cross in from his left foot and Scarlett guided it into the back of the net with a lovely header.
And he was involved again in the Tottenham’s second, assisting his fellow academy graduate to the goal of the night.
The 20-year-old striker has been given an opportunity to make his mark in the first team thanks to the club’s current injury crisis and he has certainly made his case in front of Ange with the cameo tonight.
Whether the club keeps him for the rest of the season after his loan recall from Oxford or sends him back on loan to another club remains to be seen.
A lot would depend on the club’s transfer activity in the remaining few days of the winter transfer window.
Spurs are said to have verbally agreed a deal to sign Bayern Munich striker Mathyl Tel in a package worth 60m euros. However, a deal is yet to be formalised.
If the North London club successfully secure his signing, it could lead to Scarlett going out on another loan spell.
