Tottenham’s ongoing struggles have ignited discussions about Ange Postecoglou’s position at the club, with former midfielder Jamie O’Hara advocating for Fulham manager Marco Silva as a potential successor.

The Lilywhites’ 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day marked their fourth loss in the last five Premier League matches, leaving them languishing in 11th place with 23 points from 18 games.

While Tottenham have shown promise in cup competitions, their inconsistent league form has left fans and analysts questioning Postecoglou’s tactics and long-term suitability for the role.

O’Hara has been outspoken in his criticism, pointing to the team’s defensive flaws and criticizing the manager’s commitment to an attacking philosophy despite the risks it presents.

The pundit suggested Marco Silva as an ideal replacement, praising the Fulham boss for his structured approach and ability to elevate teams without relying on star-studded squads.

Speaking on talkSPORT, O’Hara said:

“Do you know what? Carry on being stubborn, carry on doing what you’re doing, you’re going to get the sack.

“I don’t care what you say, I don’t care how far you go in the European competition or get into the final of the Carabao Cup, Premier League is where it’s at. You can’t be 11th in the table.

“I’m starting to come around to the fact that we should nick Fulham’s manager, Marco Silva. I want to nick him. He’s good. Do you know what they are? When I watch them, they are organised, got a structure to the team. They’ve got really good players – they haven’t got world-beaters – but they’ve got really good players.

“I might have to start putting it out there – Marco Silva for Spurs.

“All I’m saying is I don’t know if Big Ange can carry on playing this way. You can’t lose nine games in 18 while being Tottenham manager. I’m sorry, you can’t get away with that. You can’t continue.”

Silva’s track record at Fulham underscores his managerial prowess. Since taking charge in 2021, he orchestrated the club’s immediate return to the Premier League, winning the Championship title with an impressive 106 goals.

Fulham have since achieved stability under Silva, securing a 10th-place finish in the 2022–23 Premier League season and reaching their first-ever League Cup semi-final in 2023. Silva’s adaptability and tactical discipline have cemented his reputation as one of the league’s most capable managers.

Despite the growing pressure on Postecoglou, Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy and the club’s hierarchy have yet to signal a change in leadership. Postecoglou’s progress in the Carabao Cup and his attacking philosophy offer some hope, but the team’s league form remains a significant concern.
