“Might be the worst yet” “Shocker” Journalists react to ludicrous VAR decision to deny Harry Kane goal

By Bruce Grove -

VAR has definitely been controversial since it was introduced to English football and the enforced break to football has not made things any better for those that operate the technology, if anything, it has got worse.

Lucas Moura was fouled, the ref gives an advantage, as the Brazilian falls to the floor because of the foul a Sheffield United player blasts the ball at him. The ball ricochets to Harry Kane who does what he does best and scores.

It was a perfectly good goal but there was no way that those that operate VAR were going to have a quiet night and they somehow managed to disallow the goal claiming it was a handball by Moura.

How a falling man can avoid a ball being blasted against him by the opposition I do not know but the VAR operator does not care, this was too good an opportunity for him to miss.

Journalists have taken to Twitter to express their disbelief and I have deliberately chosen journalists reactions to avoid any sense of bitterness from a Spurs fan.

We should be embarrassed with that result,Kane’s goal (90min) made it look better than the performance deserved.Chris Wilder took a championship team and gave our boys a lesson in hard work and positional play scoring three goals from the wings.Everyone is crying about not spending money Spurs players last night cost £329m and couldn’t be coached or drilled even with a break and all our injured key players back,to beat Sheffield Utd. This is karma for me laughing at the chavs losing at West Spam.

“The disallowing of that Spurs goal has to be worst bit of VAR-ing ever.”

He’s a sports journo? Someone needs to explain to him that VAR refs don’t decide the rules as they go; they implement the rules as (stoopidly) written.
