Tottenham’s Premier League struggles have reached alarming levels, with the club now sitting in 15th place after a poor run of form.

A 3-2 defeat to Everton over the weekend marked Spurs’ fifth defeat in their last six league matches, intensifying scrutiny on manager Ange Postecoglou.

Despite the mounting pressure, former Tottenham scout Mick Brown has revealed that Postecoglou retains the backing of the club’s hierarchy for now.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown explained that the Spurs board remains understanding of the significant injury crisis plaguing the team and is prepared to show patience with the Australian coach.

The hope is that the return of key players and potential reinforcements during the January transfer window will help turn things around. However, Brown cautioned that simply getting injured players back on the pitch may not be enough to address the team’s broader struggles.

He noted that poor form often leads to a negative mindset that can be difficult to shift, even when key personnel return to action. He said:

“From what I hear, they’ll stick with him until they get their injuries back. The problem is, that could bring issues in itself.”

“The perception is you get your injured players back and all of a sudden everything’s back to how it should be and your form starts to pick back up.”

“But once you’re in a rut, you’re in a rut. It’s hard to change that mentality. I don’t think he’s seriously close to being sacked at the moment, but if things continue the way they have been, he could well be let go.”

“They seem to be putting their eggs in the basket of injured players returning, but you lose a couple of games then and you’re still in a lot of trouble.”

“I think, as things stand they’re willing to stick by him.

“But if their key players return from injury, they get a couple of new players in, and things still don’t look like improving, then I expect they’ll pull the trigger.”

Tottenham’s injury list is extensive and includes key players across all positions. First-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, defensive stalwarts Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Destiny Udogie, midfield anchors Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma, and attacking options Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke, and Wilson Odobert are all out of action.

Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke, and Wilson Odobert are all unavailable. This has left Postecoglou with a heavily depleted squad, impacting the team’s consistency and overall competitiveness.

While Postecoglou’s job appears safe for now, Brown hinted that the club’s patience is not limitless. If performances do not improve after injured players return and new signings are integrated, the situation could prompt the board to reconsider.

For the time being, however, Spurs remain committed to supporting Postecoglou as he works to guide the team through this challenging period and stabilize their season.
