Tottenham Hotspur signed Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich during the January transfer window, and they have an option to make the move permanent in the summer.

However, a report from Football Insider claims that the 19-year-old will not want to stay at the club beyond the season if they fail to secure European qualification.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can do well in the Europa League and go on to win the competition. They are unlikely to secure European qualification through league positions. They are currently 15th in the league table.

Meanwhile, the North London club will have to pay £45 million in order to secure a permanent move for the French attacker. However, the report claims that they are unlikely to pay up. They will try to renegotiate the deal with the German club and sign the player for a knockdown price.

Tel is highly rated across Europe, and he is a prodigious talent. However, he has not been able to showcase his true potential in the Premier League yet. The player is still getting to grips with English football.

Even if Tottenham lose the player in the summer, it is unlikely to be a major blow for them. They could use the money to bring in a dynamic attacker capable of operating anywhere across the front tree. They should look to invest in someone who can make an immediate impact.

As for Tel, the £80k-a-week attacker needs more time to adapt to English football before he can make a definitive impact. It will be interesting to see what the player decides in the summer. He needs to join a club where he will play regularly. Bayern Munich will not be able to provide him with that opportunity, and leaving them permanently would be ideal for him.
