Massive blow for Spurs as manager confirms potential injury to key player

By Mehdi Gokal -

Massive blow for Tottenham as Ange Postecoglou confirms Cristian Romero was taken off due to a hamstring issue.

They started off the game quickly playing some slick football for the thirty minutes.

Richarlison scored the opener finishing off a great team goal before Son scored to make it 2-0 in the 18rh minute.

Cristian Romero who was on a receiving end of a hard challenge early on in the game did not come out for the second half.

Eric Dier replaced the Argentinean instead, making his 3rd appearance of the season.

Despite conceding a late goal, the defense did enough to secure a 2-1 win.

After the game, when asked about Romero, Ange admitted he was taken off because of tightness felt in his hamstring.

He said (via Football London):

“He felt tightness in his hamstring just before half-time so we had to take him off.”

This is a huge blow for Spurs. His injury would mean Spurs will be in the same boat as they were after the Chelsea defeat earlier in the season.

During the absence of Romero and van de Ven, they went 5 games without a win.

Tottenham play two more games before the transfer window starts but. With a new defender their priority, Ange will want to get a deal done as soon as the window opens.
