‘Makes no sense’: Football expert singles out Tottenham player for his performance at the World Cup after costly defeat

Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min has been criticised for his performance against Ghana, which resulted in a costly defeat for South Korea.

While commenting on the World Cup game, South American football expert Tim Vickery tweeted that Son being asked to track back ‘makes no sense’ and that he ‘doesn’t do it well,’ making the country’s best striker ineffective.

The striker hasn’t had the best tournament so far, struggling in both games. He has also found it difficult in the Premier League so far, having made a poor start to the season by his standards. He has only scored three goals in his career, all of which came against Leicester City, where he scored a hat-trick. Overall, he has looked hesitant in the final third and lacks that clinical edge.

That’s probably what Spurs fans don’t want to hear because there was hope he could rediscover his form for his country and then bring it back to the club.

Like many groups, South Korea’s chances of qualification will also be decided on the final group game. However, they will be up against Portugal which will be a tough team to beat.

It could be Son’s last chance to impress and make history by scoring at this year’s World Cup, because if he can find his form, it could be game-changing for his team and his confidence.
