Journalist provides latest injury update which is a ‘major boost for player and club’

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham have received a huge injury boost as fullback Ryan Sessegnon has made the next step towards his full recovery.

According to Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel, the defender ‘has resumed light training’ at Hotspur Way.

He reports that the versatile left-sided defender is ‘set to restart running out on a grass’ which will be a significant step towards his recovery.

However, Mokbel added that the player is still a ‘number of weeks away’ from ‘returning to full training’.

This will come as a boost for Tottenham, in particular after the unfortunate Ivan Perisic injury that is expected to sideline him for the remaining season.

However, it is reported that the Spurs medical team are being cautious with his recovery and are ‘not rushing him back’.

During the summer transfer window, Sessegnon attracted interest from several English clubs, including Crystal Palace, Fulham, and Nottingham Forest, as well as overseas clubs like Marseille and Benfica.

However, his need for surgery, which was set to keep him out until the end of the transfer window, put an end to any potential moves.

Destiny Udogie has been a standout performer for Spurs in the left-back position this season and will be holding his spot in Ange’s starting XI even after Sessegnon returns.

But having the English defender back in the team will provide valuable depth and competition in that area.

Tottenham may still consider strengthening their left-back position in the January transfer window, but Sessegnon’s return is certaingly going to be a positive development for the squad.
