Tottenham seem to have scored a late winner here with Lucas Bergvall scoring in the dying minutes of the game.
It has been a much better performance from the Spurs side who were thrashed 6-3 by Liverpool just a few weeks ago.
In contrast, there were no goals for the majority of the game with Spurs coming close several times. The winner came in the 85th minute but not without a major controversy.
Bergvall who was on a yellow card made a rash tackle on Kostas Tsimikas, while Liverpool were on a counter. The tackle should have been a second yellow and a sending off but the referee decided against it.
While Kostas was on the sidelines after getting treated, the game continued and Spurs ended up scoring from the same play, with Bergvall, who arguably should not have been on the pitch, ended up scoring the winner.

Huge improvement in Tottenham performance
Tottenham will not care though as they have one foot into the final of the League Cup. It was a much more balanced display from Ange Postecoglou’s side who has often been slammed for not showing adaptability to his otherwise intense attacking minded approach to games.
The Reds took full advantage of their attacking game during the 6-3 win, however, they struggled to break Tottenham today.
In fact, they limited Liverpool to only a very few chances, with the likes of Archie Gray, Radu Dragusin, and specially new signing Antonin Kinsky putting in massive performances.
Kinsky looks to be a shrewd signing from Spurs, with the player putting in a flawless performance in his debut. He looked confident with his feet and made some brilliant saves including a stunning one to deny Darwin Nunez a stoppage time equaliser.
The second leg is set to be played on 6th February at Anfield. If Ange’s side can display a performance similar to tonight’s they may have a very good chance to be playing their first final in years.
