I don’t know what that is. What the fuck does that even mean?… I stand by my ‘noone’ evaluation.. And these are the basics and fundamentals of the game.
These are not options but necessities of running a football club.. We have a manager who is doing a major rebuild… Our group at this moment in time our not a top four team.. Which is why we don’t compete in the champions league, and it’s why we are eighth in the league.
It’s worrying when noones looking for the ball. Noones helping each other. The ball carrier has no options because noone is running in to space. Too many hiding. Noone wanted the ball UNTIL Coco and Lucas came on. Those two were trying at least.. I’m worried.. We struggle to make 2 or 3 passes. Noone is good enough to take the ball past players.. So we resort to sideways and backwards and hopeless hoofs long that usually end up their ball… Long balls from lloris and the defence that come straight back because we can’t get hold of the ball, we can’t string passes together, so we have no possession… Half of our squad seemingly lack football intelligence.. The standard without Kane has been shocking.. We are not even doing the basics.. And people say we aren’t a one man team. I beg to differ.
Lo Celso has scored about 2 goals in 2 years and is injured more often than not.. Not great signs for a young lad. He arrived injured and unfit. Has picked up numerous injuries repeatedly, and is injured now I believe… Another waste of money that one.
C L final was effectively Kane-less (shouldn’t have played but with what Moura has offered since re scoring Kane had to start). JM said in his presser how important Kane is to the team. Fit Kane today? Different result? Or hope for the team? Probably.

Really shameful performance from some players who just don’t care about the club but don’t mind taking the money.
Agree but would also add we are set up to play too much football in our defensive half. We have total football in our half. Even Brighton had twice as many shots as we did last game because the ball is simply always there.
Only if he was sold for big money so JM can get the type of player he wants. Dele will never play effectively in this system. Meanwhile Levy is allowing depreciation at a galloping rate.
Agree with all of the above. But will add Tuchel had Cheatski playing positive confident football after 2 weeks, even with poor forwards. New manager bump, or tactically astute enough to set up and play the way he wanted?
After 18 months with a manager how can they be scared? They are well paid, many of them internationals and have a master tactician as manager?
Even Lamela came on and contributed more attacking play and energy than most.
Precisely. This squad is not the product of the last year, but of the year when we didn’t sign anybody, as well as of many other transfer windows when we couldn’t address the deficiencies of the squad while moving out the deadwood.
Poch was overachieving for some time, but his last year and a half started showing that we would have to face the consequences of our idiotic transfer policy. We didn’t “get away” with not signing anybody – it only takes more time for the flaws to show.
Lamela’s been here 8 years. He should have been moved on after about three (remember the YEARS he spent getting his hips fixed?). Rose hasn’t contributed in a year (unless you count his appearances in the newspapers). Dele has fallen off spectacularly, as have Sanchez, Davies, Dier. What was the point of Gedson? And Bale, for that matter?
Lucas, Bergwijn and Winks are inconsistent. (At least Bergwijn is younger and can improve.) Vinicius currently isn’t good enough. Sissoko puts in the effort but let’s face it, he was extremely awful for a couple seasons and now he’s average and the contrast makes him look decent.
Rodon is young and needs time, while Toby is getting older and probably won’t play twice a week anymore (at least not now). Aurier was bad and has improved under Jose somewhat. Doherty is a new guy, but he’s atrocious.
Leaving us with the magnificent 7 of Lloris, Reguilon, Hojbjerg, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Kane and Son. These are not flawless players at all (maybe except for Kane), but compared to the rest, they are world beaters – and so probably will be (and some have been) overplayed to the point of injury/burnout. See Son’s recent performances for reference. He needs a rest, Hojbjerg needs a hell of a rest but if he doesn’t play, the midfield is a shambles. So he has to play and he does, the Terminator that he is.
Add to that the fact that we can’t seem to get rid of our players in time (Eriksen could have gone for maybe 60-70 million, Dele probably too) and that’s it. Losing money on salaries and transfer fees; players who don’t want to be here are still here due to being priced out of a move; the “sell to buy” principle.
We have a crap squad: players who have long since run their course here; players who aren’t good enough; and good players who suffer because of the long-term transfer negligence.
This is why shouting at Jose misses the mark. It doesn’t matter if it’s Poch or Jose or the latest cool German manager. The buck stops with Levy.
I think it’s impossible to judge if Jose still has it until we buy defensive replacements. This squad to me felt like it was on a precipice the night of the CL final. It was the end of an era. One last hurrah and we blew it. Everyone except Levy knew the squad was going to plummet due to awful recruitment over a sustained period and here we are. 6 max 7 of the whole fking squad are of the required standard. I cant even look at a picture of Daniel Levy without raging inside.

We have a system that is clearly not working, we have a midfield that offers no protection to the defence or supporting our desperately limited forward play .
The defence is having to play under constant pressure for most of the time in every single match, and players like Son are suffering the consequences of playing in such an alien style of play , is offering nothing.
It’s a nonsense and there is no future in performances like this, we are anti football and don’t even look like a PL team, I sympathise with the players because as much as they want to believe in the manager, they must have doubts about what is being asked of them.
I agree. I think Ndom is fairweather. A worldbeater in a flowing attacking team. Alas that’s not us. He won’t be at Spurs for more than 2 or 3 seasons. IMO
Fair enough. I believe the plan is to learn to defend first and to attack second – so when we lead, we can choose to go for the jugular or to sit on it and counter.
We attacked quite a lot at the start of the season until the West Ham game. Then the focus was more on the defence. Both worked for a time; right now, nothing works as it should due to injuries, bad performances, low confidence levels.
I still maintain we need new players to see what Jose truly wants to do. Too many of the current crop are broken.
Hate to say it, but spam recruited very well in Benrahma, Bowen, Soucek and Coufal (the latter two are both Czech so I know them and they are bargains). Four players that went straight into the starting line-up.
Defend and counter may be part of your gameplan, but you’re winning no cups and certainly no leagues if that’s your be-all and end-all. You can defend all day, but when we’re in possession, nobody has a Scooby doo where they’re supposed to be or what they’re supposed to be doing. Not a clue. No understanding, no cohesion.
The Kane-Son partnership can only sail this mob of pirates so far. The boat is sinking and the captain has no back-up plan.

Levy really has some questions to answer. He sacked the previous guy after not backing him and he brings in a new manager and doesn’t back him either in the way a manager like Jose has always has been backed. So, what was the point?
A quick fix, to try and keep us in the top 4 and win a trophy I suspect.
When Levy hired Jose his words were; “we have fantastic squad of players, they just need to get back to winning ways”
He genuinely has never felt that this squad needed investment, I have no idea what Jose might have said to him before he took the job but there was a lot of “unbelievable” and “amazing” flying about when asked about the players. If he didn’t believe it then he’s shouldn’t have taken part in the whole Levy-concocted charade in the first place.
Jose should never have touched the job with a barge pole, but sadly Jose is slowly ‘doing a Wenger’. In the same way that Wenger continued at Arsenal with ever decreasing returns on the pitch, Jose has been taking high profile jobs that are insurmountable tasks. One could argue Utd was, there is no argument that an ENIC owned Spurs is.
It’s as if he knows he’s not going to get another top club who will let the manager shape the team in their vision over a couple of seasons and start winning big. So he’s walking in with his glittering CV and saying that he can perform that same miracles for them, when deep down I doubt even he believes it…

Unless Villa/Arse draw on Sat, we’ll be 9th when we face Big Sam, his pint-o-wine, and the random assemblage of cast offs, spare parts, and aging journeymen of WBA on Sun.
Hang on a minute, remember last summer? The purchases that we got quite excited about? Was it 7 in all? Is that not part of a rebuilding process? I seem to remember Maureen believing it was. It’s not as if we’re currently putting out a load of 35 year olds. New manager, fresh start and all that. You can see from how we started the season what these players are capable of, all our top manager has to do is keep them at it, inspire them or scare them into pushing on. That’s what good managers do isn’t it?
I understand not liking it, but to say there was no gameplan is a bit insincere. There was one, but very poorly executed.

Too many new players needed, and even some of the newest ones we got since Maureen arrived aren’t good enough. I just can’t see Levy spending enough to bring in the quality for proper success, and Maureen appears to need top quality all around which we’ve never paid for. Poch’s first few years looks more and more like a freak one off.
Are wet spam’s players superior to ours? Because when Moyes arrived they were 17th, and now they’re 5th. Can’t just be the manager’s abilities can it?

Nothing wrong with going bold my friend. It does get predictable at times which makes me weary, but I’ve no problem with holding my hands up. I misread the Spurs situation by the looks of it. The first half of the season it looked is if they were chucking Jose the league. Of course I don’t KNOW. As I say, an outsider looking in.
I wonder if there’s even a need for an autopsy – we had a gameplan which was undone by a moment of stupidity and didn’t take the few chances that we created.
This group is not top 4 quality. Too many average players who have been at the club too long and too many squad members that are just not good enough. Jose is a manager not a miracle worker. If we don’t improve the squad this is what we’ll keep getting.
Predictions are different to claiming you have a crystal ball and know exactly what’s going to happen because football is rigged. You’re just guessing, as are the rest of us.
But you’re right, I always have the option not to engage, just didn’t take it.

No excuses. The squad is poor in so many places. Sorry but Vinicius is not the standard we need. I don’t care how poor Bale maybe he is better than most of the dross we have out there. If this is as a result of Kane being injured then we are clearly a one-man team.
I don’t know what that is. What the fuck does that even mean?… I stand by my ‘noone’ evaluation.. And these are the basics and fundamentals of the game.
Hey Aussie how ya doing?
Enjoying relative freedoms of life and a nice summer?
Hoping to get over your way in 2022 ,we shall see.
Peter Noone…wasn’t he in Herman’s Hermits?
I was here when the purge of nutsacks occurred.
Yeah that carnt of a thing
Spot On, and its beginning to dawn on him that hes been handed a Poisoned Chalice only this Chalice is 100% pewter.
No Of Mice And Men fans here, I see. Too bad!
Ndombele
Aurier
Kane (yes, look at his assist stats, while his goal tally remains high)
Arguably Son
Temporarily Dele and Dier
What
Chelsea consistently spend money on quality players.
You mean the Disqus plug in used by tens of millions, globally?
Who are you quoting? Flowers? Benny?
Davies is a nightmare.. They targeted him the whole fucking game. Lloris Toby Coco and Lucas were ok… The rest weren’t far off Davies.
These are not options but necessities of running a football club.. We have a manager who is doing a major rebuild… Our group at this moment in time our not a top four team.. Which is why we don’t compete in the champions league, and it’s why we are eighth in the league.
As succinct a summary as you’ll ever read.
Many old hands are gone mate.. I miss Ronwolfs insightful views.

Yup
The same ones who got the last manager sacked Bc they couldn’t handle the training to play.
And 3 points away.
Haha. Redschnaps debunked, now Bielsa!
Absolutely spot on. Is it the system or the lack of quality re players?
Cups, taken seriously and an example of a winning metric. We’re still active on several fronts and Harry will be back.
C L final was effectively Kane-less (shouldn’t have played but with what Moura has offered since re scoring Kane had to start). JM said in his presser how important Kane is to the team. Fit Kane today? Different result? Or hope for the team? Probably.

Agree with all of the above. But will add Tuchel had Cheatski playing positive confident football after 2 weeks, even with poor forwards. New manager bump, or tactically astute enough to set up and play the way he wanted?
He was on the ground looking at him! No one can excuse this type of defending. JM did say it wasn’t a pen though.
After 18 months with a manager how can they be scared? They are well paid, many of them internationals and have a master tactician as manager?
Even Lamela came on and contributed more attacking play and energy than most.
It’s the element in the room, isn’t it. Which players has JM developed or improved in the last 18 months?
So why don’t we sell him and get in a mid who can play the way JM wants?
I think most of them are just scared….
bravo…

Exactly. Hence why I always call for new/different/better players.
I said after we beat them early this season that they looked a team on the up. They need a centre half and a striker but generally very good.
There’s only so long you can defend resolutely without more quality defensive personnel.
Hate to say it, but spam recruited very well in Benrahma, Bowen, Soucek and Coufal (the latter two are both Czech so I know them and they are bargains). Four players that went straight into the starting line-up.
Celso needs to be fit – when he plays, he’s very good, but we can’t have another Lamela clogging up a squad spot.
Ndombele is one of our best players.
He was doing all he could to stab the ball away lying on the floor, while Toby and Sissoko stood watching him from 4 yards away.
It wouldn’t be pretty…
Glad you are rid of that stupid bloody thing which stopped me commenting here for 2 years.

Still played rubbish. If it was one rubbish game, fine. But we’ve been playing rubbish since mid December. Can’t paper over cracks this size.
Unless Levy and Joe have an epiphany the only way the Squad has the overhaul it requires will be to flog Kane and Son. Its that serious.
Levy sacked Poch and hired the serial winner Jose in the hope he could polish a squad of turds to avoid the rebuild that was sorely needed.
I’m sorry he didn’t know Werner was there? Ha ha
Like i said “It aint going to happen soon”
What was the gameplan? There was no game plan. None. Nada.
The main positive is that it wasn’t 0-4.
3 wins from 12
We are like a computer chess player with a glitch, same pattern of defeat every time…

He was naive he kicked out without knowing where his man was – Werner played a blinder .

How much does the major rebuild cost ?
The 2nd one isn’t an option.
2 options –
