Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the move for Brennan Johnson in recent weeks.
According to a report from Daily Express, Chelsea are keen on signing the player as well and they have held talks regarding a potential swap deal for the 22-year-old winger. Chelsea wanted to sign Michael Olise, but the Frenchman has signed a new deal with Crystal Palace and they have turned their attention towards Johnson now.
Apparently, Nottingham Forest value the player close to £50 million and they have already rejected a bid of around £35 million from Brentford earlier this summer.
The Welsh international winger scored 10 goals across all competitions last season and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham. It remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy is prepared to pay over £35 million for the winger this summer.
Tottenham could certainly use more goals and creativity in their attack and Johnson would be a quality long-term addition.
The Nottingham Forest winger showed his quality in the Premier League last season and he could develop into a reliable top-flight attacker.
Spurs have parted ways with Harry Kane and they will have to replace his output. They are unlikely to sign a player similar to the England international and therefore they might need to invest in multiple attackers who can replace his goals and play-making abilities.
Johnson was ever-present for Nottingham for his last season and the opportunity to join a big club like Tottenham could be tempting for him.
The winger is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition and Tottenham will have to shell out a premium for him. The finances should not be a problem after the departure of Kane and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
