“Let’s wait and see” – Transfer Insider shares the latest on Spurs transfer target with 19 goals and 12 assists

Transfer insider Dean Jones has shed light on Tottenham Hotspur’s keen interest in securing Ajax midfielder Kenneth Taylor, suggesting that the pursuit might face significant challenges ahead.

Jones emphasised that while Tottenham seek midfield reinforcements, securing Taylor’s transfer might prove tricky, potentially prolonging the saga until the summer transfer window.

Jones highlighted the reluctance of Ajax to part ways with Taylor, stressing the player’s integral role in the team’s ongoing season.

With Ajax witnessing a positive turn under a new manager in recent weeks, Taylor’s consistent presence on the field has cemented his importance in their squad.

He told GiveMeSport:

“Tottenham do need a midfielder, but this one might be difficult. If you looked at Ajax in the first part of the season, you’d think people would be ready to jump ship and just get out of there and do whatever they can. However, Ajax have turned a corner in the last few weeks, and they’ve got a new manager who has started to change things there. Taylor’s ever-present in that Ajax side, and he will be essential as to how the season ends up panning out.

“The message I’ve got is that Ajax do not want him leaving in the January transfer window, and it’ll have to wait until the summer. Honestly, I don’t think a player of that level will drastically change what Tottenham would be capable of across this season. So, let’s wait and see. Other teams are scouting him now, so it might run until the summer.”

Tottenham’s need to bolster their midfield stems from their their ongoing injury and suspension crisis.

They are without Bentancur and Maddison who are both out injured.

Meanwhile, they are also set to be without Bissouma for the next 4 games due to suspension and then him and Sarr will be out for another 4 to 6 games due to the AFCON starting January.

The Dutch midfielder is highly rated in Ajax and has scored 19 goals and assisted 12 in 90 appearances across all competitions.

While Taylor’s signing could significantly benefit Tottenham’s squad, Jones suggests that his impact on the current season’s outcomes might not be transformative.

As the transfer gains traction with various clubs keen on him, the likelihood of a prolonged transfer saga remains high, which could potentially extending beyond the January window.
