Tottenham Hotspur’s injury concerns have deepened as they approach the critical phase of the Premier League season, with key players sidelined due to various ailments.
Ange Postecoglou’s squad has been hit hard by injuries, with more than 20 players sidelined at various points throughout the campaign.
The latest blow comes in the form of left-back Destiny Udogie, who is set to miss the remainder of the season due to injury.
Adding to the woes, right-back Pedro Porro is also facing uncertainty ahead of the North London derby against Arsenal.
During Tottenham’s recent defeat to Newcastle United, Porro sustained an injury early in the second half, forcing him to be substituted off.
While he has enjoyed a relatively injury-free season so far, missing only two games due to a strain in February, his availability for the upcoming derby clash is now in doubt.
Speaking on The Tottenham Way Podcast, sports broadcaster and reporter Marcus Buckland shed light on the situation, indicating that the club are closely monitoring Porro’s condition on a daily basis.
Expressing hope for his swift recovery, Buckland highlighted the importance of Porro’s potential presence in the crucial encounter against Arsenal.
He said:
“There are some doubts about Porro as well, the last I heard from the club was that he’s being monitored on a daily basis, hopefully he has enough time to get fit.”
Porro’s absence would be a significant blow for Tottenham, as the right-back has been a key contributor on both ends of the pitch this season.
With 7 assists in 29 Premier League appearances, his attacking prowess from the defensive position has been invaluable to Spurs’ campaign.
With Spurs potentially without both their full-backs, Spurs will be going into the game on the back foot.
