Latest injury news: Spurs set to be without 5 of their key first team players against Sheffield – Son also “carrying a problem”

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham are set to face Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup tie tonight without five of their key first team players.

Stellini has been a breath of fresh air for Tottenham since taking in charge in the absence of Antonio Conte. The Italian has won all four games he has managed so far, including impressive victories over Chelsea and Manchester City.

Ahead of the game tonight, the Italian had suggested that he would be making some changes in order to keep the squad fresh.

He also gave an update on the injury news confirming that they will be without 5 players who are all out injured.

Hugo Lloris, the team’s captain and first-choice goalkeeper, is likely to miss the rest of the season with a long-term injury.

Rodrigo Bentancur is another player who is likely to miss the rest of the season due to injury. The midfielder has been a key player for Tottenham this season, and his absence will be felt in the middle of the park.

Yves Bissouma, who recently underwent surgery, is also set to miss the game. It is unclear when he will be fit to return to action. This is a big loss for the team, as Bissouma has been a standout performer this season.

Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr will have to step up in the absence of Bentancur and Bissouma. The two midfielders have shown promise this season, but they will need to be at their best if Tottenham are to progress in the FA Cup.

Meanwhile Ryan Sessegnon is also not back yet. And Son is also a doubt to start the match after it was revealed by Alasdair Gold that he has been “carrying a problem” since some time. He did not start the last game and was brought on later in the game. It is possible that he will start from the bench again.

Despite the absence of five key players, Tottenham will still be favourites to win the match against Sheffield Wednesday.
