“Stupid talent” – Kyle Walker sings praise for former Tottenham teammate; rates him ahead of Kevin De Bruyne

Kyle Walker is widely regarded as one of the best right-backs of his generation, having represented two of the most prominent Premier League clubs: Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

With 82 appearances for the England national side, the full-back has had the opportunity to play alongside some of the biggest names in the game for both country and club.

In a recent exclusive interview on Rio Ferdinand’s official YouTube channel, Walker revealed two players whom he considers among the greatest he has ever played with.

With no surprises, one of them being the Manchester City legend David Silva, who amassed a staggering total of 436 appearances for the Citizens in a decade-long career while contributing 77 goals and 140 assists.

The other player he mentioned is former Spurs midfielder Mousa Dembele, even above the midfielder maestro Kevin de Bruyne.

The Belgian midfielder, who retired last year, spent 7 years in North London, making 249 appearances while scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists.

Walker shared his admiration for Silva, praising his ability to effortlessly transform difficult passes into quality ones.

He also expressed high regard for Mousa Dembele, emphasising his extraordinary talent despite his relatively low numbers in assists and goals.

He stated:

“You pass him a bad ball and he makes it look like a good ball – he makes you look better. David was so good. All-rounder, Kevin, but David individually.

“David or, I’ve said Mousa Dembele countless times. He’s a scandal. The only thing Dembele didn’t have was assists and goals, but he had stupid talent – it shouldn’t have been allowed.”

When asked if Dembele could excel in current Manchester City side, Walker confidently affirmed, believing Dembele’s skills would elevate City’s performance.

He responded:

“One million per cent.”

This isn’t the first time Dembele has been praised by a former colleague; those who closely watched the ex-Tottenham midfielder always found his talent remarkable.
