Just In: Tottenham director Fabio Paratici slapped with a 30 month ban – what happens now?

By Mehdi Gokal -

An Italian court handed down a 30-month ban from football to Tottenham managing director Fabio Paratici in its verdict on one of the biggest scandals in Italian football.

After an investigation into false accounting of its transfer dealings, the FIGC Court of Appeal docked Juventus 15 points, while all other clubs investigated, including Sampdoria and Genoa, were acquitted of their allegations.

Along with the points deduction, a number of current and former Juventus board directors and key figures have been handed a ban including Fabio Paratici.

According to Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri, the ban will be valid in England too which means Tottenham could be directly impacted by this huge verdict. However, there are other contradictory reports suggesting otherwise.

According to CBS Sport journalist Francesco Porzio, his suspension will not be applicable outside Italy for the time being but he confirmed that a request has been made to extend his ban outside Italy to UEFA and FIFA.

If Paratici’s suspension becomes valid in England, that would impact his job at Tottenham. And according to The Sun, Daniel Levy will be left with a job to ‘plug a huge hole at the top of the club’.

As things stand, it is not sure whether the ban will be automatically applied to England or only after the extension request is granted.

Till then, it remains to be seen how this huge breaking news will affect the Managing Director of Football’s work in North London for the foreseeable future.

This comes at the worst possible time for Spurs as this could have an impact on the ongoing transfer window as well as other key pending matters such as Antonio Conte’s future.
