“just been told” – Journalist names the manager Fabio Paratici wants instead of Mauricio Pochettino

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new manager to replace Antonio Conte at the end of the season has taken an intriguing twist, as journalist Rahman Osman reports that the club’s director, Fabio Paratici, is reportedly in favour of Paulo Fonseca ahead of Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino, who previously managed Spurs, was considered the favourite to return to the club, with reports that Chairman Daniel Levy personally wanted him back.

However, it seems Paratici’s preference for Fonseca might put a spanner in the works.

According to Osman, Paratici is said to prefer Fonseca due to concerns that Pochettino likes to work closely with his own team, which could undermine the director’s authority.

This latest development is surprising considering Fonseca had previously been linked with the job when Jose Mourinho was sacked, but the club eventually appointed Nuno Espirito Santo instead.

Fonseca, the former AS Roma and Shakhtar Donetsk manager, had claimed that he and Paratici don’t share the same principles, raising questions about how well the two would work together at Spurs.

The decision of who Spurs appoint to replace Conte will also have an impact on star striker Harry Kane’s future, as he continues to be linked with a move away from the club.

Kane has been vocal about his desire to win trophies, and a new manager will need to convince him that Spurs can deliver that.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops in the coming weeks, as Spurs weigh up their options and look to make the right decision for the club’s future.
