Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero is undoubtedly one of the best defenders in the league and he is clearly the club’s best defensive asset right now.
According to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge, the £42.5 million Argentine international is the ideal player for Ange Postecoglou and he should be a great fit for the Australian manager’s philosophy.
The Celtic manager prefers proactive defenders who like to push up and contribute to the playmaking.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Sky Sports reporter said: “Postecoglou, he loves the defenders pushing up, loves them with the long balls and he’s just the perfect player for him.”
The 25-year-old Argentine international certainly excels in that department and he is likely to enjoy his football under the Australian manager.
Romero has been quite impressive for Spurs since joining the club and he recently helped his country win the 2022 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Tottenham must look to bring in other defenders as well. The likes of Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier were quite underwhelming last season and Spurs need to bring in upgrades.
Spurs will have to tighten up at the back if they want to get back into the top four and secure Champions League qualification once again.
Tottenham ended up conceding 63 goals in 38 league matches last season and they have been linked with players like Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven in recent weeks.
Both players are likely to improve them at the back and they could form a quality partnership with Romero at the back. The two players will add some much-needed recovery pace to Tottenham’s backline as well.
