Jonathan Tah continues to be linked with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen and Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs keen on him.
According to CaughtOffside, the 28-year-old German international defender is attracting interest from Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea. It seems that the Blues are currently in pole position to secure his signature, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can beat them to his capture.
The North London club are in desperate need of another quality central defender and the German international would be ideal for them. He could complete their defensive unit for the foreseeable future.
The defender is at the peak of his powers and he could transform Tottenham defensively. Players like Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have had their share of injury problems and Tottenham have struggled in their absence.
Xabi Alonso heaped praise on the defender earlier this year: “Overall, Jonha is performing at the highest level and I am really happy for him because he deserves all the praise and all the good moments he’s living – that he keeps playing for us and happily for the national team as well. I think he is one of the world’s best defenders.”
The Bundesliga defender certainly has the quality to play for the biggest clubs in the world, and it is no surprise that clubs like Bayern Munich, Juventus and Real Madrid are keeping tabs on his situation as well. He will be a free agent in the summer of 2025 and Tottenham will be able to secure a pre-contract agreement with him in January.
It remains to be seen whether they can snap him up on a free transfer. It could prove to be a masterstroke for them.
On the other hand, Chelsea are leading the race to sign the player and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. They need to find a quality alternative to players like Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi. The 28-year-old is capable of improving most Premier League clubs and remains to be seen where he ends up. He will be hoping to join an ambitious team capable of winning major trophies.
