Johan Lange pinpoints two attributes that prompted Spurs to sign star in January

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur completed a deal to sign Radu Dragusin from Genoa during the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old was a key player for the Italian club and he will be expected to establish himself as a regular starter for Tottenham in the coming months. The Romanian international is highly-rated across Europe and he should prove to be a quality long-term investment for Tottenham.

Club director Johan Lange has now revealed why Tottenham were keen on securing his services during the January window. The Tottenham director highlighted two of his main attributes – speed and ability to defend in one versus one situations.

He said via Fabrizio Romano: “We’ve seen Radu being very strong for Genoa over a long period. He has the speed and he’s very strong one vs one”. “He’s just turned 22 — he’s a very young player with a lot of growth for the future”.

Both attributes could come in very handy in the Premier League and Tottenham fans will certainly be excited to see him develop in England.

Ange Postecoglou has employed a free-flowing attacking system at Tottenham and the north London club have been operating a high line at the back. They need defenders with impressive recovery pace and Dragusin’s speed should prove to be a valuable asset.

Tottenham have already benefited from Micky van de Ven’s recovery pace and Dragusin could be another important player for them in the long-term. The 22-year-old might need some time to adapt to English football, but there is no doubt that he has the talent to succeed in the Premier League.

If he manages to fulfil his potential at Spurs, the £26 million fee they paid for him could look like a major bargain.
