Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori.
The 22-year-old defender has been linked with a move to the Premier League and Tottenham are keen on securing his services.
According to Dean Jones, Tottenham could make a late move to sign the versatile 21-year-old defender and it remains to be seen whether they can get a deal done.
“The intent has been on moving players on and that has gone brilliantly over the past couple of weeks, and there are a couple of situations still being dealt with this weekend. It’s interesting because it is going to allow Spurs some room to manoeuvre in the final week of the window and we all know they have a tradition of liking a late deal. Calafiori has a profile that would fit with what we have been told to expect from Spurs in terms of emerging talent over the course of this year and it would not surprise me if they look to advance that.”
Calafiori is capable of operating as a central defender as well as a left-back. He could prove to be a quality, long-term acquisition for the north London club and his versatility will be an added bonus.
The defender has been a key player for Bologna this season and it remains to be seen whether the Italian outfit are prepared to sanction his departure. The defender has a contract with the Italian club until the summer of 2027 and he could be available for a substantial amount of money.
Spurs have done well to improve their defensive options this month with the signing of Radu Dragusin. They will need to add more depth at the back and Calafiori should prove to be a quality acquisition.
Tottenham will be hoping to secure Champions League qualification and compete for major trophies in the coming months. The 21-year-old would be a superb long-term investment for them.
The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be an attractive option for the young defender, and he will look to prove himself at the highest level.
