After so many years of utter incompetence from Daniel Levy it really is madness to have faith in him to get it right in this transfer window but what can I say? I do have that faith.
Levy is a clever man, he is a successful businessman but he is not a good chairman, not when it comes to recruiting players, especially over the last few seasons.
But even he knows that he cannot afford to get it wrong this time around. He knows that it is absolutely essential that Spurs sign a new striker and I am confident he will.
The loss of Harry Kane last season was a disaster and even if Son Heung-Min would have stayed fit it was always going to impact our top-four hopes. No top club can succeed with just one main striker and any hope we have of Spurs making the top four or even challenging for silverware will evaporate once again unless we sign a back up for Kane.
The England captain just will not go through the season uninjured, his style of play and the way he is targeted means injuries are almost guaranteed, his track record certainly shows that.
Tottenham needs more than just a backup striker but that is the key signing for sure, another left-back, possibly another right-back and maybe even a central defender are needed but it is the striker position that needs the most urgent surgery.
Levy will lose the fans completely if there is no back-up striker acquired and it is not as if he has the fulsome backing of the supporters as it is.
No point having a world-class stadium if it is not backed up on the field of play.
So, yes, it is madness but I do have faith in Daniel Levy to get it right at long last.
Bale, a striker and a left back and Nodemeble and Gio coming good and we are in with a shout. Levy has reversed himself into a corner bringing Jose in as he has nowhere else to go but to back him.He knows he will not get a higher profile manager. He believes he cannot find a better manager to win things and now with the video getting pasted and showing the faux persona of the inner workings of the club he has shone the spotlight more on himself than ever before. His ego is so big to compensate for his height that he may just do the unexpected so he can navigate himself out of the pr car crash he has created with his All or Nothing debacle. Whoever thought of that title in the context of where Tottenham are at the moment should be given a bonus as it has become a wonderful stick to bash this club over the head with as every fan from other clubs are screaming “it must be nothing then” . ENIC can not afford two seasons outside of the CL that is for sure. The Trevor Birch appointment is looking increasingly interesting……
I would have thought that a striker playing behind Harry would have less pressure than being the clubs number one choice. They will get loads of games looking at our schedule and will also get to play against lesser quality opposition to begin with giving them the chance to shine. They won’t be asked to play three times in a week and will get rest between Harry starting in the bigger games. The real pressure would start if Harry got injured and we looked at them to produce the goods. Watkins,Milik, and Daka would all have been great but we will just have to wait and see who Jose & Levy can come up with.
After all these years im amazed they havent found a youngster with a bit of promise who wants to learn from the best and had to do it the hard way. Why another striker thinks they wont get games is beyond me. I like what Jose said though he doesnt want a striker who thinks he cant take Harry on for his spot .
Maybe Hitchen and his porous networking/scouting is the problem?
Harvey white. My boy.
We will get a striker in. I have faith in n€w lan€ l€vy too.
Totally agree with you, I want another striker to come in and play with Harry as well as cover for him.
All big clubs have more than one striker including us in the past ,you can get different strikers with different skill sets to use different formations against different opponents .
The trouble is Levy will sign one now for the sake of signing one, we need a striker of the quality of Daka, he has an eye for goal, his speed is electrifying and he’s young and relatively cheap as far as strikers go. He may have said he wants to stay in Austria but everyone has a price and we should be making him an offer he can’t refuse. We lost out to Haaland and could have had him for £20m last summer, look at him now, Daka is going to be even bigger, I’m sure of that. It makes perfect business sense, if Levy is that smart, that’s what he’ll do.
Since the start of last season Spurs have brought in nine new players with more to follow. We have brought through Tanganga and possibly Cirkin & White as well.
That could also be because other clubs are bringing in a striker better than their current one,it’s different with us having the best in Harry Kane, and looking for someone to play second fiddle.
Fair play to Levy he’s got the fans so desperate that signing a second striker, something that would go unremarked at any other club, will be greeted as if its the second coming.
So let’s get this straight – you are simultaneously telling us that you have faith in Levy and that you are mad.
How very Spursy.
I’ll have a pint of whatever your on
Jose has mastered the Jedi mind trick. “These are not the droids you are looking for”
Apparently it’s starting to kick off – striker incoming, LB a good possibility and GB wants to come home. If true, Christmas will have come early this year, along with many Spurs fans. Jose must have some kind of mind control over Levy – he seems to be doing Jose’s bidding.
