Insider claims Tottenham are ‘assessing’ January move for 20-goal star

Tottenham Hotspur are on the lookout for a quality goalscorer during the January transfer window.

It is no secret that they will have to sign a quality striker next month and Santiago Gimenez is on their extensive list of targets. Tottenham insider and FA intermediary Paul O Keefe has revealed on his social media account that Tottenham are ‘assessing’ a move for the 22-year-old Mexican forward Santiago Gimenez.

The striker has been in splendid form this season scoring 20 goals in 21 matches across all competitions. He helped Feyenoord win the league title last season and his form has attracted the attention of the top clubs around Europe.

The striker has a contract with the Dutch outfit until the summer of 2027 and he is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition in January. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to break the bank for him.

They sanctioned the departure of Harry Kane at the start of the season and the England international is yet to be replaced. South Korean international Son Heung-min has carried the goal-scoring burden for Tottenham since the start of the season and he needs more help in the attack.

Gimenez could transform Spurs in the final third and help them return to the UEFA Champions League. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham follow up on their interest with a concrete proposal to sign the player.

Their impressive start to the season has been undone by their recent dip in form and Tottenham must sign quality players to finish the season strongly.
