Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old Argentine International is reportedly a target for Real Madrid and former Tottenham scout Mick Brown believes that the player could move on in the summer.
Brown claims that Romero can be quite error-prone and he has never been flawless for Tottenham. However, there is no doubt that he is one of the best defenders in the league and he has been outstanding for the North London club overall.
Brown said to Football Insider: “I hear Real Madrid have been looking at Cristian Romero.
“To be honest, he never gives me the impression of stability, he’s always liable to make a bad decision or do something silly and cost you.
“I don’t doubt if Romero is given the chance to join Real Madrid, he’ll want to go.”
He has been a key player for his country as well, and he helped them win the World Cup and the Copa America. The South American is clearly one of the best defenders around and it is no surprise that Real Madrid are keen on him.

Los Blancos are looking to build a formidable defensive unit and Romero could form a solid partnership with Eder Militao. He could be an upgrade on David Alaba. Real Madrid had multiple injury problems at the back and they are looking to address that situation in the summer. It will be interesting to see if they can convince the Argentine international to join them.
They have the finances to pay a premium for him, and it will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds.
Ideally, Tottenham should look to hold onto their best players, but they could be powerless to stop him from leaving if the defender decides to force an exit. The opportunity to move to Real Madrid can be hard to turn down for most players.
Meanwhile, there have been rumours that Tottenham could sell him if he refuses to sign an extension with them.
