Romano shares latest on Postecoglou’s relationship with the Tottenham hierarchy after recent outburst

By Mehdi Gokal -

In the wake of Tottenham’s disappointing defeat against Manchester City, manager Ange Postecoglou’s comments have stirred up controversy and cast doubt on his relationship with the club.

The match, crucial for both teams’ ambitions, saw Tottenham’s Champions League hopes dashed while City remained in the title race.

Postecoglou’s frustration was evident as he expressed his disappointment at the Tottenham supporters who were seemingly rooting against their own team to thwart Arsenal’s title aspirations.

His outburst in the post-match highlighted concerns about the club’s internal fragility and questioned the mentality of both players and those within the club.

The last time a Tottenham manager openly questioned the club’s lack of winning mentality was Antonio Conte, who was sacked soon after.

Postecoglou’s vocal discontent has fueled speculation about his future at the club and strained relations with the hierarchy.

However, recent comments from renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano provide a glimmer of hope for Spurs supporters.

Romano assured fans that despite Postecoglou’s outspokenness, his relationship with the club remains strong.

He emphasised the manager’s desire for squad changes to instill a winning culture rather than any underlying rift.

He told CaughtOffside:

“The relationship between Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham is very good despite what he’s been saying in recent press conferences.

“He just wants some changes in the squad this summer and it will happen, but he’s not in a difficult relationship with the club… he just wants to build a winning mentality.

“Nothing negative at all.”

As Tottenham prepare for their final fixture of the season against Sheffield United, all eyes will be on Postecoglou and his team, who will hope to bounce back with a win and finish the season on a high.
