‘I’m hearing that…’: Romano shares the latest on Liverpool links with Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur manager is reportedly a target for Premier League rivals Liverpool.

The Premier League giants will need to bring in a new manager at the end of the season and they have identified the 58-year-old Australian as a potential target.

Jurgen Klopp has decided to leave Liverpool in the summer and the Reds are monitoring a number of options. Postecoglou has done a splendid job at Spurs so far and he has impressed with his personality and charisma. It seems that Liverpool are keen on him.

However, Fabrizio Romano claims that the Australian is very happy at Spurs and he is not angling for a move away. He has a project at the London club and he is unlikely to abandon it after just a few months.

On the other hand, Liverpool are not focused on a new manager just yet and they will look to bring in a director first.

He said on GMS: “I’m hearing that Postecoglou is really happy at Tottenham. It’s important to clarify that. They are working on a project together. All the signings they made were decided with Ange Postecoglou. That’s the situation around him.

“I think it is still early, so nothing will be decided in the next days. It will take time. Liverpool want to decide who is going to be the new sporting director before understanding who is going to be the new manager.”

There is no doubt that Postecoglou would have been a quality addition for the Reds, but a move seems unlikely anytime soon. The 58-year-old will want to build a legacy at Spurs and win trophies with them before leaving for another challenge.

Liverpool are looking at other managers and it will be interesting to see who they end up with.

Meanwhile, Spurs are currently fifth in the league table and they have impressed with their free-flowing attacking football this season. It remains to be seen whether Postecoglou can guide his side to a top four finish this season.
