Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from the London club for months now.
He has been linked with top European clubs like Bayern Munich and Manchester City in recent seasons and it seems that the 29-year-old could be a target for the top clubs once again with less than 18 months left on his contract.
Tottenham are hoping to agree on a new deal with him and it remains to be seen whether the 29-year-old is prepared to commit his long-term future to the club.
According to former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, Kane could look to stay in the Premier League and chase the Premier League goal-scoring record. He also added that the 29-year-old might decide to continue at Tottenham beyond this season.
“If I’m a betting man, I’m going to say I reckon Harry Kane stays at Spurs and just goes, outright, for the goalscoring record,” he told his YouTube channel.
“I think if Harry Kane came out and said [he wanted to stay and take the goalscoring record], I would respect him. It wouldn’t be what I would do or what I’ve done, but everyone to their own.
“I just want him to come out and tell us, so we’re all aware of what he wants to do. But again, this is a business. He’s up for renegotiation soon for a new contract. If he just says, yes, I want to be at Spurs, his bargaining power’s gone.”
Kane staying at Spurs would come as a major boost to the London outfit. Tottenham will be hoping to challenge for major trophies in the coming seasons and they cannot hope to do so without their talisman striker.
Keeping Kane at the club should be their top priority and the fans will be delighted if the 29-year-old decided to sign a new contract in the coming months.
Meanwhile, Antonio Conte has been linked with the move away from the club as well and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince the Italian manager to extend his contract with them.
