‘I was very critical…’: Amused Tottenham player reacts as critic changes stance on him

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro was initially criticised after joining the club from Sporting CP.

There were claims that the 24-year-old is quite mediocre defensively and he might not be suited to the Premier League. However, the Spanish defender has worked hard and he has established himself as an indispensable asset for Tottenham this season.

Porro is undoubtedly one of the best right-backs in the country right now and he has been in spectacular form for Tottenham this season. The defender has produced eight assists across all competitions and he will look to improve further in the coming seasons.

Former manager Tim Sherwood was quite critical of the defender when he first joined the club and Porro vowed to silence his critics with his performances on the pitch back then. The Spaniard has certainly lived up to that and Sherwood has now acknowledged that he was very critical of the defender at first.

He also admitted that his stance has now changed following the improved performance from the Spanish defender. The Spanish defender has now reacted to Sherwood’s latest comments establishing the change in stance with an emoji on social media.

“I was very critical early doors of Porro, and I still am, he’s not a good defender, and he will let you down, but going forwards his range of passing is incredible and the manager is using him to his strengths,” he told Optus Sport.

Tottenham fans will certainly be delighted with the defender’s performances so far and they will hope that he can continue to improve in the coming months.

The 24-year-old has all the tools to develop into a top class player in the coming seasons and he will be crucial to Tottenham hopes of finishing in the top four and securing Champions League qualification for the next season.
