“he’s certainly going to go there” – Pundit believes 43-year-old manager will take the Spurs job if an offer is made

Tony Cascarino believes if Tottenham were to make an offer for Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, he would certainly take it.

The Italian has done a remarkable job with the Seagulls, transforming them into a side capable of challenging for a Champions League spot.

Currently sitting in seventh place with three games in hand, a strong finish to the season could see them overtake Spurs and secure a top-four finish. Brighton are also in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and are just one win away from reaching the final.

De Zerbi’s impressive work at Brighton has made him a hot property in European football, with Tottenham reportedly among the clubs interested in appointing him following the sacking of Antonio Conte.

And Cascarino believes that if the Italian is offered the job, he would certainly take it, given the significant increase in wages on offer.

Discussing the chances of the club appointing De Zerbi on The Game Football Podcast, he said:

“What is De Zerbi getting? Let’s say it’s about £5m, well Conte has been paid £15m this season. If De Zerbi was offered the job he’s certainly going to go there and it’s the same with other managers, their wages would be trebled or quadrupled, they would probably go.”

The wages however will be just one of the factors in consideration. The club’s recent track record of changing managers will be something that the Italian will keep in mind before making a decision. Spurs have changed 4 managers in the last 2 years and with the culture at the club not the most manager friendly under Daniel Levy, young managers might think twice before joining them as it would risk their growing reputation.

That being said, if the club is willing to be patient like they were with Pochettino, the likes of De Zerbi would be attracted to the job.
