Club director waxes lyrical about ‘great player’ Tottenham have signed

By Saikat -

Djurgårdens IF sporting director Bosse Andersson has been full of praise for Tottenham’s new signing Lucas Bergvall.

The Swedish teenager sensation will complete a permanent transfer to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer after a deal was agreed between the North London club and Djurgårdens IF back in February.

While there was significant competition for his signature, Spurs managed to come out on top and acquire his services. His transfer to Tottenham was completed in January, but the player was loaned back to Djurgarden so that he gets ample game time.

Djurgårdens IF sporting director Bosse Andersson is pleased to see how the 18-year-old has handled himself and the situation. He was full of praise for the midfielder who is expected to have a bright future ahead.

Andersson feels the sky is the limit for Bergvall given the teenager’s huge potential.

He said via SportWitness: “Now there’s only one game left, the spring has gone quite quickly from the time we agreed with Tottenham. The way he’s handled this whole period since he was signed on February 2nd, he’s done it in a fantastic way and really shown that he’s a great player who has an incredibly bright future. The sky is the limit”.

Despite only being a teenager, Bergvall already has 46 first-team appearances for the Swedish club and he has even contributed towards 15 goals (9 goals, 6 assists). While he prefers playing as a central midfielder, he can feature in an attacking role as well.

His huge potential is one of the reasons why Barcelona were keen on his signature but Spurs managed to get the better of the Spanish giants in the pursuit.

The teenager will feature in his final match for the Swedish club on the 2nd of June before eventually making the move to London. He will be eager to impress Ange Postecoglou during the pre-season and ensure he is a part of the Australian manager’s first-team plans for the 2024/25 season.
