“He will end up…” – Daniel Sturridge makes interesting Harry Kane claim

By Mehdi Gokal -

Daniel Sturridge believes Harry Kane made the right decision at the right time to join Bayern Munich this summer.

Kane’s transfer saga finally concluded with his move to the German giants for a reported £100 million, as he sought to add silverware to his otherwise illustrious career.

The player had to make a tough choice between choosing silverware over an all time Premier League record currently held by Alan Shearer.

Kane is just 47 goals away from Shearer’s all-time Premier League goal scoring record of 260.

But the former Liverpool striker believes Kane will have enough time in his career to win trophies at Bayern and come back to the Premier League and break the record.

Sturridge sees Kane’s move as a tremendous opportunity for the English striker. He believes that Bayern Munich’s consistent competitiveness in Europe aligns well with Kane’s aspirations for trophies.

He also points out that despite leaving, Kane is not far from breaking the Premier League goal-scoring record. With around 12 goals a season over the next few years, Kane could still return to the Premier League and have a shot at breaking the record even if he spends several seasons abroad.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said:

“I think it’s a great opportunity for him. I think the club that he is going to has always been competitive in Europe. Of course, it was a big decision for him and I think it was the right time to taking that opportunity. I mean, he is only 48 goals from equalling the record.

“That’s what, 12 goals a season at the age of 33, 34 if he does decide to come back to the Premier League. So it’s very likely that he can still break the record if he comes back.

“Right the vital importance for him is to win trophies and add that to his resume. Moving forward, I would anticipate that he will end up coming back to the Premier League and trying to break that record.”

TBH says:

Sturridge makes a good point. Harry Kane has himself refused to rule out a return to Tottenham and perhaps the plan in his mind is to return to Spurs after several seasons abroad and push to break that Premier League record.
