‘He was wrong’: Conte signing slams former Tottenham man’s ‘unfair’ remarks

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur signed Pedro Porro from Sporting CP during the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old right-back has not been able to hit the ground running and former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood has recently criticised the defender after a poor performance against Leicester City earlier this season.

The Spanish defender hit out at Sherwood back then and it seems that he has slammed the former Tottenham manager once again. Previously the 23-year-old hit out at Tim Sherwood in an interview with the Guardian.

Now the Spaniard has spoken to A Bola (h/t Express) and revealed that he hopes that one day Sherwood will realise that he was unfair and wrong with his criticism towards the defender.

“I think the person who did it [Sherwood] was too hard on me. He didn’t know me,” Porro told A Bola.

“I had just arrived, and in the time I was on the field, there was little else I could do. I hope that one day that person recognises that he was unfair and that he was wrong in this way.”

Porro is highly rated around Europe and Antonio Conte was keen on signing the Spaniard during the January window. He has proven his quality in the Portuguese League and in the Champions League with Sporting CP and he will be hoping to establish himself as a key player for Tottenham in the coming months.

The north London club needed to bring in an upgrade on players like Emerson Royal and the Spaniard certainly has the ability to develop into a top-class Premier League defender.

The 23-year-old is still adapting to life in English football and the fans will be expecting him to hit top form next season.
