Harry Redknapp was full of praise for Micky van de Ven following his heroics against Manchester United.
Tottenham made it four wins in a row in all competitions when they hammered Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday. The win saw them climb up to the eighth position on the points table. The North London club dominated the proceedings and got the result they wanted.
It was a comprehensive win where quite a few Spurs players impressed and centre-back Micky van de Ven was one of them. The 23-year-old was the Man of the Match and he received a lot of plaudits for his great work. Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp was also quite pleased with the Dutch international’s performance and he talked quite highly about him on TalkSPORT.
Redknapp said via TBR: “He looks a great signing. What amazes me is during the Euros this year, he couldn’t get into the Dutch team. I was shocked.
“Hang on, how are they that good that he can’t get into the team? Surely they will find a place for him somewhere, if you played three at the back, you could play him at left-back even. There will be space for him somewhere in the Dutch team. He looks a Rolls-Royce, proper player.”
Van de Ven had a brilliant game defensively as he helped keep a clean sheet and he played a massive part in the opening goal of the match. The Dutch centre-back intercepted the ball in his own half and used his pace to get close to the goalline before squaring the ball into the path of Brennan Johnson who slotted it home into an empty net at the second post.
Ange Postecoglou pushed hard to bring the 23-year-old to the club in the summer of 2023. He was one of their initial signings under the Australian manager and the 77-year-old feels he is a great acquisition for the North Lonon club. Van de Ven has huge potential and Redknapp feels they have a Rolls-Royce in the Dutch international.
