Tottenham’s challenges away from home continued with a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Spurs couldn’t overcome a resilient Palace side that clinched their first league victory of the season.
Despite a determined second-half push for an equaliser, Tottenham’s attempts were ultimately frustrated by Palace’s steadfast defence.
Guglielmo Vicario, who delivered a commendable performance with five saves, was seen apologising to the travelling Spurs supporters post-game.

His gesture acknowledged both the fans’ loyalty and the team’s inability to deliver a result, underlining Vicario’s accountability with the supporters.
The game’s sole goal came in the first half, stemming from a Micky van de Ven error while attempting to build from the back. Crystal Palace’s Munoz sent in a sharp cross, which Eberechi Eze expertly flicked onto Jean-Philippe Mateta.
The forward seized the opportunity and found the net, leaving Vicario with little chance to intervene.
The Italian keeper remained composed, making crucial saves and showing impressive resilience against Palace’s chances, but was unable to stop the pivotal point-blank shot that secured the victory for the hosts.
With the defeat, Tottenham drops to eighth in the Premier League standings, holding 13 points from nine matches—a concerning position as the club aims to climb up the table.
Vicario’s brutally honest post-match comments
Vicario did not hold back in his post match comments, admitting that they lacked the desire to fight and were no match against Crystal Palace’s energy and pressing that proved to be te key difference-maker in the game.
As Tottenham now prepare for their next challenge, hosting Manchester City in the EFL Cup round of 16 midweek, the team will look to regroup and put forth a strengthened performance at home. A win against the reigning champions will be a great way to bounce back from the disappointing defeat in the Premier League.
