Gary Lineker says Tottenham star has “got a little bit of attitude”

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur’s commanding 4-0 victory over Aston Villa was a significant win in the Premier League’s top-four race, with key contributions from captain Heung-min Son.

Despite a low xG in the first half, Spurs transformed their performance after halftime, with goals from James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, Son, and Timo Werner securing the win.

Son’s impact was pivotal, as he not only scored a goal but also provided two assists during injury time.

Former England striker and legendary presenter Gary Lineker highlighted Son’s competitive spirit on the field, noting his willingness to express himself and demand excellence from his teammates.

He praised Son’s performance against Villa while making a particular observation about his attitude.

Speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker emphasised Son’s demeanour on the field, noting a contrast from his usual smiling interviews and fan interactions.

The pundit noted that Son’s competitive spirit truly shines on the pitch, as he doesn’t hesitate to express his thoughts to his teammates.

Lineker said:

“I’ll tell you what else he has got as well. He’s got a little bit of attitude as well. You always think with his interviews after the game and he always has a smile on his face and he’s nice and polite. But you can see when he doesn’t get the ball when he thinks he should be, he absolutely dishes out the b*llockings.”

This display of leadership underscores Son’s growing responsibility within the team, specially in the absence of Harry Kane.

With 14 goals and 8 assists in 24 Premier League appearances this season, Son continues to be a crucial asset for Tottenham’s success.
