Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a return to the Premier League this summer.
Apparently, the Argentine manager is on the radar of Premier League club Chelsea who are looking to bring him in as the long-term replacement for Graham Potter.
Frank Lampard has been appointed as the caretaker manager until the end of the season, but the former Chelsea midfielder has overseen a series of disastrous performances. Chelsea are yet to pick up a single win under Lampard’s management and the Blues are now looking to bring in a capable replacement.
Pochettino is reportedly closing in on the job, but former Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama believes that Tottenham should look to bring him back to the club.
The 51-year-old did an exceptional job at Tottenham and helped them challenge for the league title in the Champions League during his time at the club.
Pochettino could feel that he has unfinished business at the club and the opportunity to return to North London could be an attractive option for him.
The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder who excelled under Pochettino has revealed that he would choose Tottenham if he was given the option this summer.
“I get it and I get how the fans feel and Poch should be the manager of Tottenham next season, not Chelsea”, he told London World.
“I can understand the frustration within the fanbase because they know Pochettino gave everything and I believe if there are two offers on the table between Chelsea and Tottenham, then the Pochettino I know will choose Tottenham.”
It remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy is prepared to bring the 51-year-old back to the club.
Tottenham continue to be linked with a number of managers and the likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique are reportedly front-runners to secure the job.
