Former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster believes Tottenham summer signing Guglielmo Vicario has been better than Liverpool’s Alisson Becker this season.
Spurs signed the Italian international in the summer on a five-year deal from Serie A side Empoli for a transfer fee of £17m.
And he has made an instant impact since coming in, becoming one of the best players for Spurs this season.
He has performed at the highest level consistently, making some big saves, becoming a reliable presence between the sticks for Spurs.
The 27-year-old has also been a leader at the back and has very quickly become a fan-favourite at Spurs.
His performances have been key to Spurs brilliant season under the new era of Ange who started off their campaign unbeaten in 10 and top of the table. Injuries temporarily derailed their form, but they are back at it having won 4 of their last 5 and just, one point off the 4th spot and 6 points off 1st place.
Ben Foster has now praised the Italian claiming that while Alisson Becker for him is the best keeper in the world, Vicario has been the best in the league so far this season.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, The Cycling GK, Foster said:
“I’ve gone for Vicario, £17 million they brought him for from Empoli. I do believe that Alisson is the best goalkeeper in the world, I do. It’s as simple as that. He’s the best goalkeeper in the world.”
“But for this season, the goalie I saw make some unbelievable saves, the impact.
“If you were a goalie coach at Tottenham and you were responsible for bringing in that goalkeeper in, honestly, you could do what you want for years. Because you could live off that guy. The fact that you can bring somebody in for £17 million, for a big club, a top club like Spurs, for as little money as that, and him hit the ground running is phenomenal.”

There is no doubt that Alisson Becker has been the best keeper in the league since several years now. But Vicario is certainly making a case for himself for being the best in the league this season with his performances.
He has been utterly ridiculous and is getting the recognition he deserves.
