Football pundit bizarrely names Tottenham first-team starter as weak link

Football pundit Keith Treacy has singled out young midfielder Pape Matar Sarr as the weak link in the Tottenham Hotspur team.

According to him, he is not the player to ‘bridge that gap’ between Spurs and top sides like Manchester City and Arsenal.

He told Off the Ball:

“Pape Sarr, he’s somebody who I don’t think is going to bridge that gap between Spurs and Man City or Spurs and Arsenal, so there are question marks there, but they have gotten an awful lot stronger this year.”

This is a weird take from Treacy specially considering he has been one of our top performers so far.

The 21-year-old has bursted on to the scene this season. Ange Postecoglou put his trust in the young midfielder and he has repaid it by putting in top performances consistently every game.

He has skipped ahead of Oliver Skipp, another young midfielder who started the first game for Spurs but has been replaced by Sarr since then.

He has formed a formidable partnership with Yves Bissouma and James Maddison in the midfield and the trio has very quickly become one of Premier League’s top midfields.

A single player is not responsible to bridging the gap between the two teams like Treacy suggested.

It is a collective effort and under Ange Postecoglou, the gap seems to be bridging nicely.

Tottenham sit second in the table, still unbeaten in the league, just one point behind Manchester City and ahead of Arsenal on goal difference.

No Tottenham fan is expecting Ange to win a trophy this season but at this point, we take every game as it comes and see where we are come January.
