Fans love what Micky van de Ven was seen doing after the full time whistle against Brighton

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur secured a thrilling victory against Brighton earlier today with a 96th-minute injury-time goal.

Spurs’ centre-back Micky van de Ven had a solid performance overall, with one notable exception.

Around the 16-minute mark, he fouled Danny Welbeck, resulting in a penalty for Brighton, which Pascal Gross successfully converted.

Van de Ven redeemed himself admirably, not putting a foot wrong since that incident.

He won all his aerial duels and tackles, making 10 recoveries for his side. His performance was pivotal in securing all three points for the Lilywhites.

But it was what he did at full-time that has left everyone praising him.

Following the final whistle, while the rest of his teammates celebrated the last gasp victory, the Dutch defender was spotted approaching his U21 friend and Brighton’s centre-half, Jan Paul van Hecke instead, to offer consolation.

Watch the brilliant gesture from the defender below:

Both players have a shared history, having played together and represented the Netherlands U21 team in the UEFA Under-21 Euro 2023, thus forging a strong bond.
