Tottenham Hotspur entered the new campaign with hopes of putting last season’s injury woes behind them, but those challenges have unfortunately continued, impacting key players early on.
A major concern for Spurs is the fitness of their high-profile summer signing, Dominic Solanke. The striker, who joined from Bournemouth in a deal that could reach £65 million with bonuses, remains doubtful for the upcoming weekend match.
Tottenham correspondent Paul O Keefe shared an update on his social media, noting that Solanke’s availability is still uncertain, while other number 9 Richarlison is also being monitored after experiencing discomfort during training.
However, he provided a positive update on Micky van de Ven, claiming that the centre-back is expected to be ready for selection after dealing with a minor issue, which will be a relief for manager Ange Postecoglou.
Solanke remains doubtful for the weekend and Richarlison felt something and was struggling so also being assessed. VDV currently expected to be available for selection.

Despite Solanke’s absence, Tottenham delivered a dominant 4-0 victory over Everton in their second league match. In that game, Dejan Kulusevski filled in effectively, with club captain Heung-min Son taking on the centre-forward role.
Additionally, Rodrigo Bentancur suffered a head injury in the season opener against Leicester City, a match that ended in a 1-1 draw. The midfielder had to be stretchered off and was replaced by 18-year-old Archie Gray, who made his debut for the club.
As the season unfolds, Tottenham will be keen to avoid a repeat of last year’s injury troubles, aiming to keep their squad fit and focused on achieving their goals without the disruptions of key player absences.
